The IRF takes over management of RECAP Website and Knowledge Library

The Research for Community Access Partnership (ReCAP) funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has come to an end this month. At the closing event hosted on 14th December, it was announced that the IRF will take over the management of the ReCAP website and the knowledge Library to continue ensure access to these resources and future uptake.
Over the past six years the partnership has brought together current and former UK aid funded research programmes in rural roads and transport services. The aim of the partnership is to improve accessibility of the rural poor in Africa and Asia to economic opportunities and social facilities through improvements to infrastructure and transport.
Targeting Africa and Asia, the focus has been on strengthening the evidence base on more cost effective and reliable low volume road and transport services approaches, thereby influencing policy and practice.
The International Road Federation (IRF) is happy to step in to ensure continuity and access to these resources. It fits in well with current efforts being undertaken by the IRF and aiming at bringing progressively under the Global Transport Knowledge Portal (gTKP) umbrella the access to key transport knowledge resources and programmes. Thanks to a grant from the FCDO-funded High Volume Transport Programme (HVT), the gTKP platform is in the process of being enhanced and updated to fast-track LMICs access to knowledge, experience, learning resources and good practices on COVID-19 response and impacts. The platform currently hosts also some of the knowledge resources produced by the United Nations Road Safety Collaboration (UNRSC).
To be kept informed on developments around the ReCAP resources and gTKP, please make sure to register to the IRF Newsletter (at the bottom of this page).
