IRF Members Gather in Bratislava for the IRF 2026 General Assembly
27 May | Bratislava, Slovakia – IRF members gathered in Bratislava, Slovakia, for the IRF 2026 General Assembly, the IRF’s annual forum for reviewing progress, setting strategic priorities and shaping the future direction of the organisation and the global road and mobility sector.
Held in a hybrid format alongside ASECAP Days 2026, the General Assembly brought together members from around the world, both in person and online, to participate in governance discussions, review organisational achievements and contribute to IRF’s future agenda.
A key item on the agenda was the election of new members to the IRF Board of Directors, further strengthening the Board’s international expertise and representation. Members approved the appointments of
- Tom Alkim from MAPtm
- Ramonokone Mirriam Ramona from the South African Roads Federation (SARF)
- Bin Ran from the University of Wisconsin–Madison
- Miodrag Poledica ,,Putevi Srbije”
Members also received updates on major organisational developments, including the advancement of the unification of the International Road Federation and the European Union Road Federation (ERF), announced during Intertraffic Amsterdam in March 2026. The milestone marked an important step in strengthening the voice of the global road sector and enhancing collaboration across regions.
The Assembly welcomed new organisations to the IRF community, further strengthening the Federation’s global network and broadening engagement across the road, mobility, infrastructure, technology and academic sectors.
Members reviewed key organisational developments and achievements from the first months of 2026, including strategic initiatives, programme updates, committee activities and the Federation’s continued contribution to international transport and mobility agendas.
Discussions highlighted the growing importance of workforce development as the sector responds to challenges and opportunities linked to climate resilience, digitalisation, connected, cooperative and automated mobility (CCAM) and sustainable asset management.
In line with this, members were updated on the IRF’s expanding capacity-building activities designed to support the upskilling of transport professionals through structured learning pathways, recognised competencies and access to leading international expertise.
These initiatives continue to enhance value for IRF members by providing privileged access to high-quality training opportunities, discounted enrolment rates and greater visibility for technical experts contributing to the advancement of the global road sector.
“Looking ahead to 2026, our Federation is continuing to strengthen governance and deliver the organisational strategy outlined in IRF Vision 2030. Underpinned by our values: Integrity, Rigor, Ambition and Accountability, our work is driven by Unity, Knowledge, Influence and Impact. Our commitment is always about delivering value to members and the sector, it is about increasing professionalism and about reinforcing our Federation as the the global community shaping the future of road transport.” – IRF President, Dimitrios Mandalozis
The strong level of engagement from IRF’s members demonstrated their commitment to advancing safer, smarter and more sustainable transport systems and ensuring that the Federation remains a leading platform for international cooperation, knowledge exchange and industry leadership.
