Alexandra Antsugai, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development
As Senior Advisor at the EBRD’s Environment & Sustainability team in London HQ for over 13 years, Alexandra is leading environmental and social assessments of investment projects applying for the Bank’s financing in energy, industry, mining and other sectors across several regions (Eastern and Central Europe, Balkans, Central Asia and North Africa). She acts as a sector lead specifically in the pharmaceutical and forestry/wood-processing industries within the ESG and sustainability remit.
At the level of the Bank’s investment projects, her focus is on ensuring compliance with EBRD safeguard policies and EU laws related to environmental, health, safety and social requirements, monitoring of projects’ implementation, maintaining communication with various stakeholders and participating in conflict resolution and investigation efforts. The policy dialogue-related work involves managing several technical cooperation frameworks dedicated to sector studies and other sustainability-related assignments, including Alexandra’s coordination of the Belarus Forestry study and Western Ukraine’s FSC certification programme, among other wood industry TC projects.
