Emily Carr, EASST

Emily has taken the lead in EASST’s children’s education work.  She produced EASST’s Road Safety Education Pack. The Pack teaches key road safety principles in an age appropriate way to children up to 14. Designed using key UK and international expertise, the Pack is tailored to meet the needs of low and middle-income countries. The Pack has been translated into Russian, Azeri, Greek, Kyrgyz, Tajik, Armenian and Kazakh with country versions planned for all EASST countries of operation. An African version will also be launched shortly.

Emily led training with the Education Pack for over 500 children in Kazakhstan as part of an EBRD project in 2016 and has facilitated education projects with EASST partners reaching 10,000 children so far.

Emily has also developed EASST’s award winning donations programmes. This programme collects surplus UK goods including safety equipment, high visibility clothing and child car seats and redistributes them to EASST regional partners for life saving road safety projects.

The Programme has support from Crossrail, Kier Group and others. The initiative has provided Hi Viz safety clothing for Moldovan farmers that drive horse carts, safety clothing for the Ukrainian Fire Service for use during their post-crash work and for Young Generation Tajikistan to use in their road safety projects.

In addition, Emily has lead a project donating child car seats to a maternity hospital in Tajikistan. She is also developing a wider project aiming to roll-out child car seat donations to other Eastern European countries.
